FAQ
| My
child is unfit and overweight, will he/she
fit in? The
classes are there to help your child get
fit, and lose weight if necessary.
Coordination will improve with
practice. The instructors are very
encouraging and understanding. So
our Members would never be pushed to
extreme limits, nor made to feel
uncomfortable, but they will all progress. |
 |
| What's
the extra £15 for? This
is a combined KB Membership and Licence
fee (for insurance purposes).
This is
renewed on an annual basis through KB
Kids. |
|
|
| Will
my child get hurt? Accidents
can happen with martial arts training,
just as they can with any other
sport. One of our students could
trip over whilst training. However
due to extra care being taken, not one of
our adult students has been seriously
injured due to sparring. Contact is
not permitted in KB Cubs & KB
Crouching Tiger classes. All kicks and
punches will be landed on focus pads or
executed in the air.
Contact is
permitted in the KB Tiger lessons
(optionally), provided full protective gear is worn,
and even then only VERY light contact is permissible,
with no face contact at
all. |

| What
equipment needs to be bought?
Nothing is needed
initially. All training aids are
provided. After
the first eight weeks, the KB Uniform is
required (this is KB Martial Arts trousers
and a T'shirt). We also encourage
you to purchase gloves for your child
after the first month so that their
joints are protected when striking the
focus mitts.
Extra
protective wear (head guard, shin pads
etc.) is not needed for the younger
children in our school (age 5-11) as sparring is not
permitted until training in the 12-17
age group. And even then, sparring
is not permitted until the student has had
at least three months training experience.
As your child improves,
light sparring may be - optionally -
introduced, at which point protective
clothing will be mandatory. If they
are keen to continue, Kung Fu trousers,
kick boots, gloves etc. can be purchased
directly from us

|
| What
should my child wear? The
dress code is 'comfortable.' For
example, track suit bottoms and a T'shirt.
Training is bare
foot. You are encouraged to
purchase the club uniform after one month. |
